Professional Negligence

When you engage the services of a professional to advise you, you are entitled to expect a reasonably skilled and competent service. Unfortunately, professionals can and do make mistakes.

If you have been the victim of inadequate advice or improper conduct from a qualified, professional person and lost out financially as a result, you may be entitled to make a claim for professional negligence.

Professionals have a legal duty to exercise “reasonable skill and care”. If they fail to do this and their mistake was one that a reasonable professional working in the same field would not have made and you suffer financially in consequence, usually the professional is legally responsible to put things right and/or pay compensation.

What we do

We specialise in pursuing professional negligence claims, including claims against solicitors. We have extensive experience acting for both claimants and defendants in substantial and complex cases. We act for individual clients, companies, OMB’s, lenders and other claimants against a wide variety of professionals.

Claims against professionals can be complex and frequently involve dealing with the professional’s insurers. That's where we come in. In all litigation, it is important to get the right advice early on, and to have an experienced team working for you. Professional negligence claims raise financial risks (which are usually insured) but also involve unwelcome threats to reputation.  Get it wrong and you can see yourself at the wrong end of a costs order or defamation action.
