Sarah Bailes
Senior Associate Service areas: Family Law

Sarah began her career as a Legal Clerk after graduating from Teesside University in 2004 with a degree in Forensic Psychology. She then retrained whilst working and studying the Graduate Diploma in Law and thereafter was a Trainee Solicitor whilst completing the Legal Practice Course.

After graduating and successfully completing her training contract, she qualified as a Solicitor in the Family Department. Sarah moved firms after significant cuts were made to Legal Aid in 2013, the same month she qualified.

Sarah is an experienced Solicitor who now focuses on Divorce, Separation, Financial Matters and Relationship Planning. She also has experience in complex Private Law Children cases, such as those involving an international element, and in Domestic Abuse cases.

Sarah prides herself on dealing with cases from start to finish as far as possible and represents her clients at Court Hearings, allowing continuity of representation and service. She recognises that coming to a Solicitor with a Family Law issue is a stressful and emotional time and she is empathetic to each client's individual situation. Sarah is a member of Resolution and feels strongly about dealing with matters pragmatically to assist people in moving forward with their lives.

Sarah joined BHP Law in January 2025 as a Senior Associate within the Private Family Law team, where her focus is to help expand the department in line with the firm’s growth in the region.
