During this event, Alexander Millward from BHP Law will give an update on four key legal topics for HR professionals:
• The Uber case / employment status
• Changes in the requirements for contracts of employment
• COVID vaccinations
• The future of work (hybrid or flexible)
All of the topics that will be discussed are likely to affect organisations that engage with individuals at any level and so we hope that there is something for everyone.
The Uber case
The recent Uber case was heard by the Supreme Court, now the highest court in the UK. The judgment of that case, regarding employment status, sets a precedent to all other organisations who engage with individuals to correctly identify their employment status or face being caught out by a status claim. We will be concentrating on some of the key aspects of employment status and the decision given by the Supreme Court.
The changes to the requirements for contracts of employment
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, changes came out to the requirements that organisations must insert to the contracts of employment that they give to their employees. We will be looking at what the base contract of employment should look at, the changes that have come into effect and the risks of getting it wrong.
COVID vaccinations
By the time of this talk, the majority of the population will likely have been vaccinated but we will be exploring the potential pitfalls when handling COVID vaccination data.
The future of work (hybrid or flexible)
At the outset of the pandemic, organisations up and down the country were thrown into new ways of work with many who had considered working from home either difficult or an impossibility. Now, as we come out of lockdown, we take a look at what the future of work will look like and the potentials of hybrid / flexible working and what your organisation should be prepared for.
