THE North East’s oldest law firm has said “Oh, yes it will” to sponsoring a star-studded pantomime for the fourth year.
BHP Law, which has offices in Darlington, Durham, Stockton, Newcastle and Tynemouth, has been unveiled again as a headline sponsor for the Darlington Hippodrome Christmas Pantomime.
This year’s production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears stars ballroom dancer Brendan Cole – best known for his appearances on Strictly Come Dancing – as the Evil Ringmaster, alongside returning favourites Josh Benson as Joey the Clown, and Jamie Jones as Dame Betty Barnum.
They are joined by Taziva Faye-Katsande as Goldilocks, and Jonny Weston, Christina Berriman Dawson, and Jessica Daugirda as the Three Bears.
Claire Horowitz, a partner in the law firm, said: “We’re delighted that BHP Law is once again helping to make Christmas truly magical for thousands of families in and around Darlington.
“It’s been our privilege to sponsor the Darlington Hippodrome Pantomime for the last three years, and we’re overjoyed to be back for a fourth – oh yes we are!”
Lawyer Debbie Palmer added: “The Three Bears might think they’ve got an open-and-shut case of trespass against Miss Goldilocks, but first they would have to prove that she didn’t have implied permission to enter. After all, who leaves porridge cooling on the table and the door wide open?
“Our advice would definitely include investing in better home security – and hoping Goldilocks doesn’t counterclaim for emotional distress at waking up to find three ferocious predators looming over her!”
Brendan, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing for 13 years, said: “Theatre is such an important part of British life, and to have support from local businesses for the arts is an incredible thing.
“We can’t thank BHP Law enough. They’re helping keep us on the boards and entertaining people, and they’re helping to keep audiences coming back to their local theatre. It’s fantastic.”
Jamie, who with Josh is appearing for the third consecutive year in the Hippodrome panto, added: “It’s fab to be back in Darlington, and it’s great to have the support of the HP Sauce – I mean, BHP Law!
“They’ve sponsored the panto for four years now, and their backing means the world to the theatre and to us. We couldn’t ask for better supporters.”
