Applications Now Open For Our Work Experience Programme For Y12 & Y13 Students – Monday 17th to Friday 21st August 2026

A work experience programme developed by Ellie Phillips, one of our Solicitor Apprentices, designed with the candidate at its core and tailored specifically to students in Year 12 and 13.

What to expect

Throughout the programme, candidates will gain first hand exposure to life in a legal environment through a structured and engaging schedule including:

  • Interactive workshops led by legal professionals
  • Insight into different practice areas and career pathways
  • Practical tasks designed to reflect real legal work
  • Guidance regarding the various routes available for pathways into law, including university and apprenticeships

Who can apply?

This programme is open to Students in Y12 or Y13 with a keen interest in pursuing a career in law.

  • Programme content focussed on real world insight and designed specifically for students at a key decision-making stage

Programme objectives

To provide a valuable and engaging legal work experience opportunity, offering meaningful exposure to the day-to-day realities of working in the legal profession

To deliver structured insight into the legal industry, through a series of organised workshops across the programme, enabling candidates to make informed decisions about the most suitable pathway into law

To support candidates in leveraging their experience, by providing guidance on how to effectively translate the skills and knowledge gained into future job, university, or apprenticeship applications

To promote greater accessibility within the legal profession

How to apply

  • Name and address of College or Sixth Form you attend
  • Your contact telephone/mobile number
  • Your email address
2. Please write a cover letter to introduce yourself and tell us why you are applying to the programme.  We have included some questions for guidance which you may find of use when drafting your letter: –  
  • Why have you chosen to apply to the work experience programme at BHP Law? 
  • What do you know about BHP Law, have you undertaken any research on the firm, if so, what stands out to you?  
  • What do you hope to gain from the work experience programme?
  • What interests you about a career in law?
  • What skills or personal attributes do you have, that make you a good candidate for the programme?
  • What hobbies or achievements can you tell us about?

All applications will be reviewed after the closing date, and we will contact successful candidates by 31st July 2026 by no later than 5:00pm. 

The work experience placements will take place throughout the week commencing 17th August 2024, Monday – Friday (inclusive).
