Leading legal professionals, health and social care practitioners, deputies and experts from across the Court of Protection sector will come together on 22 June 2027 for BHP Law’s Second Court of Protection Conference, taking place at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle upon Tyne.
Following the success of our inaugural conference in 2026, we are delighted to announce that the 2027 event will be headlined by the inspirational Lady Hale, former President of the UK Supreme Court and one of the most influential legal figures of her generation.
Lady Hale made history as the first woman appointed to the Law Commission, the first female Law Lord and ultimately the first female President of the Supreme Court. Throughout a distinguished legal career, she has helped shape the development of modern law while inspiring generations of lawyers who have followed in her footsteps.
As part of the conference programme, delegates will have the unique opportunity to hear Lady Hale reflect on her remarkable life and career in law. Attendees will gain personal insights into her journey to the highest judicial office in the United Kingdom and will have the chance to participate in an interactive Q&A session, providing a rare opportunity to engage directly with one of the country’s most respected legal minds.
Alongside Lady Hale, delegates can expect a compelling programme featuring a stellar line-up of high calibre speakers including King’s Counsel, barristers and leading sector experts. Together, they will explore the latest developments, challenges and opportunities facing those who work to support and safeguard some of the most vulnerable members of society.
The conference is designed for professionals working across the Court of Protection landscape, including solicitors, social workers, deputies, DoLS professionals, healthcare practitioners, therapists, financial advisers, wealth managers, case managers and all those who play a role in supporting individuals who lack capacity and the families around them.
As well as a substantial programme of expert-led sessions, delegates will have access to a dedicated exhibition area featuring specialist organisations supporting the Court of Protection community, creating valuable opportunities for networking, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
The event will take place at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle upon Tyne and will run as a full-day conference. Breakfast refreshments, lunch, and refreshments throughout the day will be included, providing ample opportunity to network and connect with colleagues and peers from across the sector.
Tickets and Booking Information
Tickets will go on sale via the BHP Law website at 9.00am on Monday 2nd November 2026.
A limited number of Early Bird discounted tickets will be released, alongside special reduced rates for advocates, recognising the valuable role they play within the Court of Protection system.
Following the overwhelming success of the 2026 conference, we anticipate significant demand for places. Attendance will be capped at just 230 delegates, and we strongly encourage those wishing to attend to secure their place as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
The North East’s Specialist Court of Protection Conference
The BHP Court of Protection Conference remains the only specialist event of its kind dedicated to the Court of Protection community in the North East of England.
As a North East law firm, we are passionate about creating opportunities in our region that bring together the North East’s legal, healthcare, social care and professional communities. We recognise the dedication, expertise and compassion demonstrated every day by those working across the Court of Protection sector, often supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging circumstances.
This conference was created not only to provide high-quality continuing professional development, but also to create a forum where professionals can learn from one another, share best practice, develop valuable relationships and strengthen the wider network of support available to those who need it most.
The success of our inaugural conference demonstrated just how important these opportunities are. We are proud to continue investing in an event that champions the people who make such a profound difference to the lives of vulnerable individuals across our region and beyond.
Outstanding Support from Our Sponsors
Events of this scale and ambition are only possible through the support of organisations that share our commitment to the Court of Protection community.
We are delighted to be working alongside a number of exceptional sponsors whose services, expertise and innovation support professionals, families and protected parties across the sector. Their backing enables us to continue delivering a high-quality conference experience while creating opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration.
Immense gratitude to Parklane Plowden, Jungle IT, Spire Barristers, and Her Invest for their support. We will be sharing more information about our sponsors over the next few months, and for those attending the conference, you will have the opportunity of meeting the sponsors in our dedicated exhibition.
We are proud to be partnering with businesses and professionals who are making a genuine difference across the legal, healthcare, financial and social care sectors.
These organisations represent the very best of the Court of Protection community and the wider professional network that surrounds it. Their support helps make this event possible, and we know delegates will value the opportunity to meet them throughout the day, learn more about their services and discover new ways of working together to improve outcomes for those they serve.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
Importantly, all proceeds from the conference will be donated to a local charity, St Cuthbert’s Care with a close connection to the Court of Protection community.
By attending, delegates will not only benefit from a day of exceptional learning, insight and networking, but will also be helping to support an organisation whose work makes a meaningful difference to the lives of those connected with the sector.
Having the opportunity to experience an audience with Lady Hale, hear from an exceptional line-up of professionally recognised speakers, a dedicated exhibition space, outstanding sponsors, and places limited to just 230 delegates, this promises to be one of the most significant Court of Protection events in the UK calendar, held right here in the North East of England.
Following the success of our inaugural conference, demand is expected to be high and early booking is strongly recommended.
More than a conference, this is an opportunity for the Court of Protection community to come together, learn from some of the most respected voices in the sector, share best practice and strengthen the relationships that ultimately improve outcomes for the people we all serve.
As a North East law firm, we are incredibly proud to continue investing in an event dedicated to a field that changes lives every day. We care deeply about the professionals who work within the Court of Protection community and the individuals and families they support. Bringing this event back for a second year is our way of championing that important work, celebrating the expertise that exists across our region and creating a lasting legacy through charitable giving.
We look forward to welcoming you to Newcastle on 22 June 2027!
