Lucy Burgess
Apprentice Solicitor Service areas: Wills, Trusts & Probate

Lucy joined BHP Law as a Solicitor Apprentice in September 2022. As an apprentice, Lucy will experience working within different departments over the six-year period whilst studying for her Law Degree, one day a week, at Northumbria University. After graduating, Lucy will move on to completing the Solicitor Qualifying Exams in 2026, which will lead to Lucy qualifying as a Solicitor.

In year 1 of her apprenticeship, Lucy worked within the Court of Protection Health and Welfare team, supporting some of our most vulnerable clients who lack capacity to deal with their personal affairs. Lucy assisted in the preparation of various matters in readiness for Court hearings.

In year 2 of her apprenticeship, Lucy moved to the Wills Trusts and Probate team. Lucy initially assisted the team in gathering information and the drafting of documents. Now, Lucy is developing her own case load, preparing, and executing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Lucy is a proud supporter of Free Wills Month and enjoys working with clients from the St Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham.
