Lucy Burgess
Apprentice Solicitor Service areas: Residential Conveyancing

Lucy joined BHP Law as a Solicitor Apprentice in September 2022. As part of her six-year apprenticeship, Lucy is gaining hands-on experience across a range of departments while studying for her Law Degree one day a week at Northumbria University. Upon graduating, she will go on to complete the Solicitor Qualifying Exams in 2028, with the goal of qualifying as a Solicitor.

In her first year, Lucy worked within the Court of Protection Health and Welfare team, supporting some of our most vulnerable clients who lack capacity to manage their personal affairs. She assisted in the preparation of various matters in readiness for Court hearings.

In her second year, Lucy moved to the Wills, Trusts and Probate team. She began by assisting with information gathering and document drafting, and has since developed her own caseload, preparing and executing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Lucy was a proud supporter of Free Wills Month and found particular fulfilment working with clients from St Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham.

Lucy has now taken her seat in the Residential Conveyancing team, where she is continuing to build her legal skills and broaden her experience. She is looking forward to supporting clients through the home-buying process and contributing to the team’s busy property practice.
