Emma joined the Court of Protection Health and Welfare team at BHP Law in 2019, having spent 17 years at another local firm. In the early stages of her career, she worked as an office administrator before developing a strong interest in criminal law, which led to her becoming an accredited police station representative. Her extensive experience in client care and legal procedure makes her a highly valued member of the team.
She works closely with clients, many of whom are involved in complex capacity cases, and regularly reviews detailed reports, issues proceedings, and attends hearings in support of counsel. Emma also participates in professional meetings, building and maintaining strong relationships with barristers, clerks, and other legal professionals.
Emma manages relationships with clients and their Relevant Person’s Representatives (RPRs), particularly where clients lack capacity. She supports the wider team by assisting in the running of cases, drafting briefs to counsel, completing legal aid applications via CCMS, and conducting legal research to enhance her knowledge and contribute to her continuing professional development.
Known for her meticulous approach and commitment to high standards, Emma plays a key role in delivering effective legal support to her team and colleagues.
