Court of Protection Secretary

We are looking to add to our committed friendly Court of Protection  team based at Durham. 

 

This is a permanent full time position.

 

The Role:

 

  • Audio typing
  • Completing Legal Aid applications
  • Scanning documents
  • Maintenance of files
  • Liaising with clients and other professionals
  • Diary management
  • Preparing court bundles
  • Reading records
  • General administration.   

 

Requirements:

 

  • Strong IT and admin skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Hardworking, diligent and self motivated
  • Adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and communicate effectively
  • Good organisation skills
  • Reliable, friendly and approachable
  • Ability to work as part of a small team, and also complete tasks independantly

Accounts Assistant

We are looking to add to our committed friendly Accounts team based in Darlington.

 

This is a permanent full time position.

 

The Role:

  • Support the Accounts Manager to ensure compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Ensure that client and office ledgers are kept up to date accurately
  • Processing client and office accounting transations:
  • Posting incoming monies paid directly into client account
  • Banking
  • Issuing outgoing cheques
  • Outgoing BACS/CHAPS payments
  • Card Payments
  • Write Offs
  • Bills
  • Filing/admin tasks, including collecting post etc
  • Taking card payments from clients over the phone

Requirements:

  • Strong numerical and IT skills
  • Minumum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above inc Maths and English
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Hardworking, diligent and self motivated
  • Adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the business

Costs Draftsman

Would you like to join our busy friendly firm as an in house Costs Draftsman, working with our Court of Protection, Personal Injury & Family teams?

This is a permanent full time position.

The ideal candidate:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of dealing with costs matters (either in a draftsperson or costs lawyer capacity).
  • Experienced in drafting bills including Precedent H, budgets, negotiations, points of disputes and replies; and attending detailed assessments and CCMC.
  • Legal Aid certificate and Legal Help Scheme billing experience
  • Proven IT skills and ability to adapt to new technology
  • Able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A positive approach to working under pressure and in a busy environment
  • Business acumen

  • At least 3-5 years PQE
  • A very good grounding in all aspects of family law in particular divorce, financial relief, private law children, non-molestation/occupation orders, cohabitation, pre and post nuptial agreements

  • Ability to develop client relationships
